coldAlert is a FREE service provided by the Sussex Air Quality Partnership (Sussex-air) and is supported by the Public Health Bodies (East Sussex and West Sussex County Councils). The service is operational again this winter providing free “cold weather warnings” for those with respiratory and cardiovascular conditions, vulnerable residents, parents of young children, carers and healthcare professionals across Sussex.
The coldAlert service operates similarly to the existing airAlert service providing alerts, supporting information and advice to people with respiratory conditions such as asthma and COPD. Both services run in parallel and can provide support to vulnerable people, carers and health professionals. airAlert provides air pollution warnings in Sussex, Surrey, Kent and Hampshire. The service is FREE, you can register by contacting us at the same telephone number or self-register via the airAlert website www.airalert.info.
coldAlert forecasts are supported by and linked into information provided by the Department of Health's Cold Weather Plan for England (October 2015).
The Cold Weather Plan for England helps to raise awareness of the harm to health from cold, and provides guidance on how to prepare for and respond to cold weather. To download the cold Weather Plan for England visit www.gov.uk
